Xpilot vatsim

I've been having a problem with X-Plane, VATSIM and vertical offsets with all (P3D & X-Plane) planes. All planes are sunk in the ground up to the Cockpit Door. I'm new to X-Plane and the Swift Client for VATSIM. The following instructions have me confused:

If its the VATSIM one, a controller (generally tower and above) must be online to actually publish an ATIS. If its the default simulator ATIS, such as the one in FSX and P3D, then xPilot is not needed for it to work. I recently downloaded and installed Xpilot version 1.1.6.0. (Beta version) directly from the VATSIM website and for some reason I can transmit voice but cannot receive voice. I fly GA aircraft, and tested it on line several times.
